Why You Should Invest In Film With Us

A 2019 Forbes Report showed that 80% of the 700 or so films made per year lose money. Films4U are here to make sure that doesn’t happen for you.
On over 500 films, and £6bn in budget, we haven’t lost money on a film to date!

Everyone loves Movies – but not everyone makes money from them! With Films4U, you can…here’s why…

Market Snapshot

We all love to watch films and box sets. But how we watch them has changed dramatically in the last few years. Until recently, if you wanted to watch the latest films, you would have to go to the cinema, then to a DVD rental store, and then you would see it on Television.
The explosion of streaming services, and content on demand providers globally has changed how we view films, and how much of our time we spend watching them.
A 2017 Ofcom report showed that Eight in ten adults in the UK (79%) – or 40 million people – use catch-up technology such as BBC iPlayer, or subscription services such as Netflix, to watch films and multiple episodes of a series in one sitting, wiping out the wait for next week’s instalment and increasing the amount of films they watch. One third (35%) do so every week, and more than half (55%) do it monthly
A study by the Independent Newspaper showed that the average Britain, spends 10 years of their life watching Films and TV, mainly TV on demand.
So how do you benefit from this ever-increasing demand? The key is to ensure that you invest in films, that people will see – and that is what Films 4U do.

Every film we produce, comes with guaranteed distribution, meaning the films you fund get seen, in cinemas, and on the world’s biggest streaming services and TV Networks, and you benefit from this increasing demand for content.

DISTRIBUTION

Like the production side of the movie business, the distribution side is established and traditionally in each territory of the world there are companies that specialise in cinema, Blu ray, TV and digital distribution, and some that specialise in all these channels.

Others will specialise in distributing programming to companies in different territories. These entities will do all the leg work and take a fee.

The majority of our films will have a cinematic release, followed by distribution across Blu ray and DVD, they will then be broadcast on a VOD service such as Sky Box Office, then Blu ray and DVD and traditional TV, such as Sky.

Finally they will be released to the multitude of IPTV and OTT digital distributors for maximum return on investment during the lifecycle of the film.
At every one of these distribution points the film will generate money for investors.

Films4U specifically choose every title based on its commercial appeal; we do this by undertaking an in-depth review of each film title as part of a robust due-diligence process.

STRATEGY

We go to great lengths to reduce risk within our private equity and EIS investments.  We structure with the aim of mitigating risk and maximising investment returns, as well as to qualify for a range of investor tax reliefs under the Government’s HMRC administered Enterprise Investment Scheme (the “EIS”).

Every film project will go through
an in depth review as part of a robust due diligence process including;

An initial desktop review – we look at more than 500 films per annum, rejecting more than 90% at desktop review stage through rigorous review procedures

Followed by a detailed in depth review – less than 50 films reach this stage. We then spend a minimum of three months reviewing all aspects of the film/company’s business, business plan, financials, projections, key management, market sector, competition, exit strategy and EIS compliance.

Deal approval – Undertaken by the Investment Committee, our meticulous focus is on quality over quantity.

As with any financial investment, there is always an element of risk and it is very important that you do not invest what you cannot afford to lose.
While it is not possible to guarantee the commercial success of any film project, we want the best for our investors and choose projects carefully, using our experience and network to maximise every opportunity.

We identify routes to deliver a successful investment exit at the outset, and all parties are focused and incentivised towards achieving an exit within three to five years.
